I went to NWSS from Japan to learn English. I had no knowledge of English at all, and couldn't even order at Starbucks! Learning a second language was hard for me, but now having learned English, my life has changed.
I stayed with a host family and sometimes made pastries as a hobby. Through making my pastries, I wanted to speak and communicate with people who enjoyed my pastries. I studied hard, when I realized learning to communicate in English would make a difference in my life. Gradually, I gained confidence and learned to speak.
Through the time as a student in Canada, I know there is nothing I can't do if I try. I can do anything, if I really want to. Learning English expanded my life options, and I am happy I was able to attend NWSS for a life changing year.
