Consider Native Plants for your Garden – They Attract Bees, Birds and other Pollinators
Spring is here and it's about to spring into bloom. A great time to start planting.
This video features Josh Thompson of PlanBeeNativePlants. You can see from how he spells
the name of his business, that it is all about growing native plants to attract bees and other
pollinators. He recently spoke at New West's Public Library.
Josh speaks passionately about the importance of creating gardens of indigenous plants.
They support bees and all the native pollinators of this area, and in fact, the whole ecology
of plants, birds and animals that are part of our natural eco-system.
In this video he tells us about how he got started in his venture to create his own nursery
to sell these plants. He has done a lot of research and learned a great deal along the way.
He provides information on the large variety of native plants; when to plant; what to plant so you have a succession of blooms from spring through fall; what flowers attract what pollinators; plants for balconies, small gardens and larger ones; what can kill pollinators and plants; where to find good information about native plants; and a whole lot more.
He has a nursery of native plants in Langley. It is open on Saturday's to the public and during the week if you make an appointment. His email is PlanBeeNativePlants@gmail.com.
